Melan revisits still lifes by creating vases and flowers whose curved, intertwined, or straight shapes evoke a symbolic, lively, and comforting language. The vibrant colors she uses bring a great visual freshness, energizing her works. Each flower humorously symbolizes situations of everyday life, in which the characters – men, women, or children – she represents interact. Through her bouquets, Melan addresses joy, friendship, and love, but also sometimes sadness, resilience, or jealousy. It is up to the viewer to decode and reconstruct a message they can relate to.
